Corporate Health and Safety
Foreword by The Chief Executive
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 encompasses all work situations and involves all of us, employer, employees, contractors and other partners alike.
Each has a duty to the other to maintain a working environment that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, free from hazards and risk of injury to persons employed or to others who may be affected by the work activities.
The Council undertakes all its activities to ensure it complies with the equality duties set out in The Equality Act 2010.
Where it is not reasonably practicable to ensure a hazard free environment, it is the employer's responsibility to provide adequate protection, advice, information and training to combat risks that cannot be eliminated.
It is with this in mind that this Safety Policy is produced. The contents have my approval and the authorisation of the Council.
