SHOULD SCHOOLS WISH TO CONTINUE UTILISING THE GUIDANCE DOCUMENTS FOR THEIR OWN PURPOSES, WE ARE THUS LEAVING THE DOCUMENTS ON SLG FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY.
HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVICE REMAINS AVAILABLE FROM THE TEAM AND FOR ANY PREMISES-RELATED QUERIES MAINTAINED SCHOOLS CAN ACCESS PSG.
This page is for ‘Safer School’ accredited schools.
The ‘Accredited review checklist’ document is the guide to the continuation of the Safer School process and the available documents are either: -
DRAFT documents for schools to modify and use.
TEMPLATE documents for schools to complete.
EXAMPLE documents are examples of work or ‘action’ shown in this folder.
Using the above documents, the only element that schools need to create are the minutes of the ‘Safer School Group’ (SSG) meeting.
A ‘Safer School’ certificate expires every two years. During this two year period, schools should have an annual SSG meeting. For professional advice and support, the Council Crime Prevention Officer is available to assist schools. Involving the Council Crime Prevention Officer in a school’s SSG meeting is a clear indication that a school is maintaining their Safer School process. An important element of Safer Schools is publicity and the Crime Prevention Officer can assist schools with this.
