What is the occupational health service?
This is a confidential advisory service offering information and advice on work related health issues.
This includes:
- Helping to maintain a health workforce by managing health from risks in the workplace an offering workplace strategies and advice
- Staff retention and increasing productivity through promotion of health and wellbeing
- How and when to make a referral
- Daily clinics
- Advice on managing health issues
- Advising on work-place adjustments to help retain staff
- Enabling return to work by offering interventions, adjustments
- Health surveillance
- Pre placement health assessments
- Counselling
- Physiotherapy
- Supporting ill health retirement process
Accessing occupational health services:
You can access the service through a management referral.
Alternatively you can call 01743 252833.
The helpline is available between 8.30am and 4.30pm. We will endeavour to respond to your enquiry within one hour. However, at busy times when staff are answering enquiries you may be redirected to voicemail. In all cases, please leave your name and telephone number and we will reply as soon as possible. You can also email your enquiries to occupationalhealth@shropshire.gov.uk
This is a confidential advisory service available to all our managers / employees to discuss, in complete confidence, advice on work-related health issues. This could include advice on the following:
- Sickness absence referral advice
- Rehabilitation
- Stress-related issues
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Counselling
- Physiotherapy
Occupational Health Referrals
Schools with access to the ERP should submit referrals using the ERP.

The occupational health referral form should be completed and then sent securely, to occupationalhealth@shropshire.gov.uk
